Why Crawl Before Learning to Walk Infants

Crawling is the usual phase babies go through before it starts running. He learned to strengthen the muscles of the hands and feet to help lift and move.

Most babies begin to crawl at the age of 6-10 months. Usually at this age he can sit up without sustained. Once he could do this, he will also be able to move his head, turned to the right and left to observe his surroundings.

Baby crawling is also a way to get to know the environment in its own way. In general, he will begin to learn to crawl by balancing his hands and knees. Furthermore, he will try to move back and forth with the knee. But he could also try back and forth in his own way, such as shifting the buttocks, moving one hand and one leg to pull his body forward, creeping over his stomach, or rolling to and fro.

However, some babies do not crawl at all but immediately lifted the body by holding on to the edge of the table, then stood up and started to learn to walk step by step. Whatever he does, do not worry too much. As long as he still tries to move, no matter what way he learned to do it, right?
After several months of practicing, he would move more smoothly and more confident. Do not be surprised if at the age of about 9-10 months, been going smoothly crawling to and fro. And after getting an expert, he will master what is called William Sears as cross-crawling, namely moving the arms and legs in the opposite (eg left hand and right foot, or vice versa) to advance, and instead of using hands and feet from the same side.(*)
